I Love Benson

REFLECTIONS is a mural celebrating the City of Benson’s past, present, and future through story-telling, photo documentation, and archival research. Benson Middle School students, teachers, administrators, and community members, became co-creators of the overall mural project. The shape of a heart was cut out from the center of the mural and a mirror was attached to the backside. The heart with the mirror represented a metaphor for the City of Benson’s logo: I Love Benson. As you stand in front of the mural, you will see the reflection of yourself as part of the mural’s composition!

Tracy was awarded a one month artist in residence through a North Carolina Arts Commission Arts in Education Grant. Thank you to Art Teacher and artist, Magen Pike, and her middle school students from Benson Middle School in Benson, North Carolina.
