Lately, I’ve been creating small still life paintings of flowers in vases as a gateway to gallery painting. I consider these paintings as studies, working gesturally using little to no planning. Eventually, I want to create larger still life’s while also considering other subjects like landscapes or portraiture.
These still life’s are more gestural; similar to action painting which is a new approach for me. Most of my previous work has been more hard-edge abstraction with my compositions almost always planned out.
