Stake 48

STAKE 48 | 2021 | acrylic on wall | 8’ x 8’ | Kimball High School Kimball, South Dakota

Kimball High School students partnered with artist, Markus Tracy, in the creation of the Stake 48 mural. The overall design of the mural is a windmill quilt pattern representing Kimball’s family friendly community; the town’s historical ties to the railroad; cattle ranching and farming; decorative art and architecture; and the natural wildlife, to include Prairie Gardens Nature Trail, which is a nature trail just outside of Kimball Public School. The most important attribute of the Stake 48 mural is to celebrate Kimball as a unique town in comparing to other towns throughout the state of South Dakota.

Thank you to Kimball School District Superintendent Dr. Chris Noid, Principal Matt Dykstra, PreSchool/Jr Kindergarten teacher Stephanie McCord in helping to organize the mural project, and to teachers and staff at the Kimball School District. Special thanks to the community of Kimball as well as to the South Dakota Arts Council.
